5:30 on a Friday Afternoon

October 4, 2007

Not all certificates of insurance are time-critical. This one is. It’s a holiday weekend, 5:30 on a Friday afternoon and almost everyone has left for the day. Your newly awarded account has just won a multimillion dollar contract with a new client. To secure the business they made a few small promises that included a monster load of certificates of insurance—delivered immediately with the following caveats:

The certificates of insurance need to be batch delivered via e-mail, fax and hand delivered by USPS and Next Day Air — some of them include multiple deliveries to third-party recipients. They want it all…  ACORD 24, ACORD 25, ACORD 27 and ACORD 28 with customized and personalized endorsements, addendums and attachments. Even more, they need to be mistake free and digital copies delivered to the desktops of all of the client contacts in less than 15 minutes? Did I forget to mention, they also need a copy of all the certificates placed on a CD and mailed to New York, Chicago, and California. 10 minutes left. Oh #%@!   Who’s going to do all of this?
