USPS Will Now Email You Pictures Of Your Mail

The Huffington Post: The United States Postal Service is rolling out a new email initiative to make receiving snail mail more convenient.

The new, free service, called “Informed Delivery,” will email “black and white images of your actual letter-sized mail pieces” to you by 11:00am EST on the day the mail is being processed for delivery, according to the USPS website. The service hopes to add larger items, such as magazines, in the future.

An “online dashboard” will also exist to house all images.

USPS insists that the service is secure. “The scanned images are of the external markings, showing only the address side (exterior front-side) of mail,” it said.

The service is currently offered in the New York City metro area and parts of northern Virginia, with potential expansion in 2016.
