Snail Mail

If it feels like it’s taking longer for your U.S. Mail to reach it’s destination that’s because it is. The reason is simple, digital delivery methods and plant closures. There is far less mailing (snail mail) taking place today and as a result processing plants are closing. A trend that will most likely continue.

The United States Postal Service closed 150 plants to save $865 million and another 82 in January, 2015 to save an additional $750 million. In January, 2015 USPS eliminated overnight delivery for local first-class letters that used to arrive next day. What was overnight is now taking a few extra days.
